I'm installing on a server that has more than one website - will this tutorial still work to use joomla on more than one website or do I have to change the directory I'm unzipping the joomla files to? Also because the server was setup to use asp.net for the current version of our website the C:\Inetpub\wwwroot directory is not empty and I'm concerned about causing a conflict here. Specifically the directory has an images directory that will be overwritten but since there's no images in that directory I'm assuming it shouldn't matter anyway. Any advice would be appreciated. - Sandy

I've uninstalled everything and started over. This time I'm getting the below note about a stylesheet, when I finally go to http://localhost/ to see the Joomla Home page. And when I ad the admin directory to the URL I get nothing....a blank page.

How can I UNINSTAL Joomla 1.5?

I have installed Joomla 1.5 according to your tutorial, and I cannot log in to the Administrator, although I'm using the exact password that was used in the tutorial.

Also, I now cannot get connected to any database in MySQL using the MySQL administrator or phpMyAdmin, both of which were working perfectly prior to this install. I am now dead-in-the water.

This has got to be the most god-awful sound clip I've ever herd. I hover over the soudn slide to try to catch it as it begins, but can never get to it soon enough. I want to hear the sound in the video, but NOT that awful intro. What were you thinking?

How can I turn it off. - Willow Wright

Save Session Path - FIXED!

Ok, right after I posted my comment I figured out what I was doing wrong.

You have to configure the PHP.ini file differently for Joomla 1.0.XX and Joomla 1.5.X

A little bit of background:
I had never installed Joomla on IIS before. I took one of my servers and virtualized it so that I could install Joomla 1.0.X and Joomla 1.5.X separately.

On Joomla 1.0.X I had to do the following to my PHP.ini file:
; As of PHP 4.0.1, you can define the path as:
;
     session.save_path = C:\inetpub\wwwroot\sessions
;
; where N is an integer. Instead of storing all the session files in

**Notice two things here. First, I removed the ; from session.save_path
Second, there are no quotes around the C:\inetpub\wwwroot\sessions.
I had to do both of these things before Joomla 1.0.X would recognize my session save path

This is COMPLETELY different for Joomla 1.5.X
Here is the same excerpt from my Joomla 1.5.X PHP.ini file:
; As of PHP 4.0.1, you can define the path as:
;
;     session.save_path = "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\sessions"
;
; where N is an integer. Instead of storing all the session files in

**Notice that the two things I removed (the ";" and the quotes around the dir) are there now in the PHP.ini code.

Doing this will (should) fix the errors in the save.session_path - Ryan

Save Session Path

I am having an error with the save session path during the Joomla install. My Session path is unwritable and there is no path set.

I have checked my php.ini file
"session.save_path = "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\administrator	mp"
This should be correct?

Anyway, I am unable to fix this. Any suggestions? - Ryan
