This is a great video. On thing that I ran across though was an error when I used MySQL 5.1. I had to uninstall and install 5.0 to get it working all the way through. - Bob Johnson

This video is great but I had an issue using MySQL 5.1.

After searching for a while I found out that I needed to use 5.0! Just an FYI. - Bob Johnson

About configuration.php permissions......

BEFORE you go to your www.domain.com/administrator page and begin your setup procedure, you should first create a BLANK configuration.php file and give IUSR_ServerName Read and Write permissions to it.

Then your setup will be written to this file and you will not have to create the file by hand. - Jim Hubbard

I love my IIS but I wanted to install Joomla - You made it happen. Very nice tutorial. I just want to add I initially had error 505 during installation using mySQL version 5.1.31. I downgraded mySQL to version 5.0.77 and I was able to complete the install and I didn't even have to manually edit configuration.php. I run Joomla 1.5.9. - Olu Omibiyi

I am also getting the File 500 error after the MySQL information is input. I get another message that comes up if it tries to refresh about a MySQL access violation. I uninstalled MySQL 5.1 and installed 5.0.67 and am having the same issue. So I went back to square one and nuked the server and reinstalled everything from scratch and still the same thing. Could this be a problem with running Exchange on this server and OWA? - Eric Smith

I got the MySQL, PHP5 and Joomla 1.5 setup working by choosing MySQL 5.0.67 instead of MySQL 5.1.30. This resolved the HTTP 500 error showing up after entering the MySQL database information in the Joomla 1.5 installer. - Bjorn Holmberg

I get the same http 500 error after the page where you name/provide information about your MySQL database. This is after following all three tutorials (PHP, MySQL and Joomla). Is there a problem with rights that are overlooked in the tutorial? Is it something else? - Bjorn Holmberg

My sql error

I have WHS site running on the default website, so I had to change some things here and there, but PHP5 is working so is the joomla setup page

Only I get an error on mysql support, you talk about c:\inetpub\wwwroot
Is there a way to let mysql talk to diiferent website then the wwwroot because it has WHS default page running and it will surely kill my website.

For instance let's say i want MYSQL to talk to c:\inetpub\mysite
Are there some things I need to do during MYSQL install.

I've created the session_path to "c:\inetpub\mysite\sessions"in php.ini file
Surely I must be missing something :'( - Erik Verreijt

I'm installing on a server that has more than one website - will this tutorial still work to use joomla on more than one website or do I have to change the directory I'm unzipping the joomla files to? Also because the server was setup to use asp.net for the current version of our website the C:\Inetpub\wwwroot directory is not empty and I'm concerned about causing a conflict here. Specifically the directory has an images directory that will be overwritten but since there's no images in that directory I'm assuming it shouldn't matter anyway. Any advice would be appreciated. - Sandy

I've uninstalled everything and started over. This time I'm getting the below note about a stylesheet, when I finally go to http://localhost/ to see the Joomla Home page. And when I ad the admin directory to the URL I get nothing....a blank page.

How can I UNINSTAL Joomla 1.5?

I have installed Joomla 1.5 according to your tutorial, and I cannot log in to the Administrator, although I'm using the exact password that was used in the tutorial.

Also, I now cannot get connected to any database in MySQL using the MySQL administrator or phpMyAdmin, both of which were working perfectly prior to this install. I am now dead-in-the water.

This has got to be the most god-awful sound clip I've ever herd. I hover over the soudn slide to try to catch it as it begins, but can never get to it soon enough. I want to hear the sound in the video, but NOT that awful intro. What were you thinking?

How can I turn it off. - Willow Wright
